The future according to Paul Ryan

I don't think the Democrats should waste a nickel on campaign ads for 2012. This powerful clip, featuring Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), behind Grandma's wheelchair, should do the trick:

I would ask Left-Siders this question: would the most effective 2012 strategy for Democrats at this point be to simply stay silent and let the Republicans go on about their craziness? Do you have any particularly shocking Rethug antics that you think should be shared with the nation's voters? Thanks for your help!

The Democrats can to a point, (it is entertaining to watch the GOP hang themselves with their own ideas) but I also think they need to stand up for what they believe in. We have some Democratic representatives who are doing that but we need more of them to do it. There's people out there who think the Democrats don't care anymore about the middle class because many of them won't stand up for us.

And where to begin on the Rethugs. You have corporate welfare which is pretty much socialism and they all hate socialism. There's the union busting, pushing grandma off of a cliff, increasing the defense budget, holding disaster money hostage for the tornado victims, killing funding for college (they actually cost me quite a bit with that this year) and then there was the government shut down they wanted that somehow people think Obama was for. I could go on and on all day, lol.

That's an excellent point about the Democrats needing to prove with their actions that they stand with the middle class. Withdrawing from Afghanistan, and spending the savings on job creation here at home, would be a start.

My favorite "stupid Republican trick?" When Gov. Walker fired a qualified guy, at a high salary, to make room for an unqualified son of a donor, at an even higher salary. It's all about watching out for the taxpayers!

The Dems have an opportunity to educate the voters on what the Republican View for America is. It isn't pretty. I don't think they should waste a minute. Here is a very interesting clip, from Think Progress. http://youtu.be/IwgX_PEq8x0

Doesn't get much uglier than Michigan:

"In a party line vote, and despite impassioned speeches of protest by the body’s Democratic minority, the Michigan Senate approved legislation that threatens to take over and even dissolve local governments that refuse to balance their budgets by breaking labor contracts.
According to the law, which has already been approved in the House, the governor will be able to declare “financial emergency” in towns or school districts and appoint someone to fire local elected officials, break contracts, seize and sell assets, and eliminate services.

Under the law whole cities or school districts could be eliminated without any public participation or oversight, and amendments designed to provide minimal safeguards and public involvement were voted down.

An amendment to require Emergency Managers to hold monthly public meetings to let people know how they are governing was rejected by Senate Republicans, along with proposals to cap Emergency Manager compensation and require that those appointed to run school districts have some background in education."
