John Edwards

While many of us are disappointed to see Edwards leave the race, we can all be proud of the positive, progressive tone of his campaign. He really did push all the candidates to consider carefully many progressive issues, and pushed the debate forward to the point where the Democrats are listening to important concerns beyond the big-money interests. Thank you John!!

As one of today's pudits expressed it, "he was the right person at the wrong time". In almost any other field of candidates, John Edwards would have captured the imagination of the electorate. But this was not any other field, it was a field containg the first African-American and the first woman to run for the presidential nomination. Indeed, John Edwards forced his fellow candidates to engage in issues and to articulate their platforms. He set the bar much higher and we are the beneficiaries.
